When Climbing A Mountain, A Successful Summit Is A Round TripMay 30, 2012Posted in Blog, News
When climbing a mountain, a successful summit is a round trip.
A few days ago, we announced a fundraising effort to commemorate Gov. Gary Johnson’s reaching the top of Mt. Everest – the world’s highest peak – nine years ago. The idea was for supporters to contribute $1 dollar for every foot Gov. Johnson climbed, $29035, to reach the summit of Everest on May 30, 2003. The goal was to raise that amount by today.
Thanks to more than 200 great supporters who took up the challenge, we not only reached that goal, but exceeded it! As of this morning, the amount raised was more than $32,000. Check our progress here: www.GaryJohnson2012.com
Noting that we had reached – and surpassed – a dollar for every foot required to reach the top of Mt. Everest, one of our volunteers pointed out something very important: When Gov. Johnson reached the summit on May 30, 2003, his challenge wasn’t over. In fact, it was only halfway complete. He had to make his way back down.
Excellent point, and we are taking it to heart by extending our Everest “money bomb” by five days and another $29,035. Like the climber who has reached one goal – the top of a mountain, and then sets another, our campaign to restore Liberty as a fundamental principle of government is about setting goals, and achieving them.
Thanks to dedicated supporters such as you, we exceeded our goal of raising $29,035 over the past few days. And now, we must raise another $29,035 over the next five days! Please take a moment to help. Go to www.garyjohnson2012.com and make sure we keep up the momentum that will provide the funds Governor Johnson must have to carry the message of smaller government, greater freedom and non-intervention abroad to every corner of the nation.
Every dollar counts. As more and more Americans learn that they will have a real choice in November, we are being swamped with requests for literature, signs, and bumper stickers. Governor Johnson and Vice-Presidential nominee Judge Gray are receiving invitations to appear at key events across the country. And, of course, we must begin to marshal the resources to take our message to the airwaves, the internet and to mailboxes. Your contribution now at www.garyjohnson2012.com makes all those critical elements of the campaign possible.
Another $29,035 by Monday, June 4. We can do this – with your help.
Thanks, as always, for your dedication to Liberty and for your support.

P.S. Your support is paying off. Just days ago, the Zogby polling organization announced they will be including Gov. Johnson in their national polls. That recognition of our momentum is the first step toward making sure Governor Johnson is included in the crucial Presidential Debates this fall. Help us stay on the move!
